Sodium hyaluronate
Sodium hyaluronate (HA) is composed of equimolar glucose acetic acid and N-acetyl glucosamine. It is widely used in macromolecular polysaccharides in animals and animals. It is widely used in medicine, cosmetics, food and pet food because of its super hydrating and water-locking properties.
Regulatory requirements
On April 27, 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China Announcement No. 27 revised the "Catalogue of Feed Additives (2013)" to allow sodium hyaluronate to be used as an additive for cats and dogs.
Aging, disease, and deterioration of the external environment will cause the loss of sodium hyaluronate in dogs and cats, resulting in dry and itchy skin, sparse hair, dull hair, and inflexibility of movement.

Distribution of hyaluronic acid in the body
The efficacy of sodium hyaluronate in pet food
1) Enhance skin moisture
After being digested and absorbed by pets orally, sodium hyaluronate can supplement the HA lost in pets and increase skin moisture and elasticity.

After 15 days of feeding with different doses of HA, the skin moisture of canines increased and showed dose compliance.
2) Lubricate the joints
As an important component of cartilage and synovial fluid, HA plays a decisive role in protecting joints. Replenishing the HA lost in the joints by oral means can reduce the risk of arthritis in pets.

The addition of 0.03% HA to the basal diet has a significant improvement on arthritis, and when the addition amount reaches 0.09%, the experimental dog's symptoms of hip arthritis are significantly improved.
3) Regulate gut health
Oral administration of HA can increase the resistance of mice to Listeria, acylcimonobacter, and enteropathogenic Escherichia coli.

HA can be used as an intestinal prebiotic to promote the reproduction of beneficial bacteria, and at the same time, it can form a biofilm and enhance the barrier function of the intestinal tract.
